Wassup y'all! Happy New Year. I had a great week off where I had a chance to reflect, relax, sleep, eat and draw. I did all of those a great deal, which in mind is the perfect vacation. I headed back home to Boston (my hometown) and got to look through my childhood comic book collection, which I haven't really done in quite a while. It's always a kick to look through some of the stuff that shaped my childhood and provided me with the inspiration to do what I do for a living. I always read comic books as a kid, but my real love and passion for the medium didn't really develop till 91' or 92', around the time of the formation of Image Comics. That whole movement really affected me. The art was so frenetic and colorful and just so . . .new to me, and for the first time in my life it made me say "wow, this is what I want do". That said, this next set of images is sort of my homage to all those great books from the 90's that I dug.
This first one is based on Sam Kieth's The Maxx.

Sweet shit K. Man Image comics raised me it shaped my whole world as far as art is concerned, it was just so ground breaking to see the way they used colors lay-outs and stuff. Its like what Wu tang did for the rap game.
The Maxx is one of my favorites. it was actually my fav of all the Image stuff. Beautiful piece!
ME TOO!

Brotha your really killin it here!!! Here's hoping 2008 brings you back to panel works!!!-T
Heh. '91 is about the time I got into it too. The funny thing about wanting to learn how to do comics in the nineties is that all the books and articles and stuff about comics go on and on about stuff like colored dyes and ruled lettering and stuff like that... only to see all that kind of thing get phased out.
I remember back then wanting to learn how to color like Joe Rosas so bad... but Liquid and Digital Chameleon took over in the 90s. XD
nice! but you forgot the girls, pot belly, thats what i thought made her sexy.
yeah!... bullet.(dynamite cop reference that has been going around here in the office, sorry)
Wow that is one cool Max drawing. Love this 90's stuff. You brought back some great memories.
